Quotes from 2013

It's almost the end of the year! I had put a quote of Everly's up on Facebook today and it made me realize I should track down all the quotes that the kids' said this year. Thankfully, Facebook makes that easy.

Now I'm sure I don't have all of the quotes but this is a decent batch. Have fun reading.

Me - “Everly you need to be nice.”
Everly - “No, I’m Everly!”

Logan just told me that the ScoobyDoo series is like the Bible: each episode is part of a whole. Great that he understands the Bible works like that, weird that he relates it to ScoobyDoo

“Who ordered the frappuccino?” - The kids were apparently playing "Starbucks"

“Dad when I was sleeping, Logan took my sock off.” – Ransom

“Dad, I will call you back. I really love you Dad. I’ll call you back, see you soon.” – Everly pretending to talk to Justin on her pretend phone.

Everly was having one of her fits (a pouty one; not a yelling one) and I told her she was being like Ransom. She must have misheard me and said, “ No, I look like Mommy!”

“I’m tired. I go sleep in the car. I can’t handle sugar.” – Everly

“I want tortillas, and bread, and chips. That’s all.” – Everly’s lunch request.

“My nose is rotten.” – Logan describing what I assume is a raw nose from a cold.

“Mom, I see frosting!” – Everly upon seeing frost.

“Mom, why are you putting on makeup? We aren’t going anywhere!” – Everly

Me – “You have hiccups.”
Everly  - “Yeah... I got them from Target.
Me – “Oh, I didn’t know you could get hiccups from Target."
Everly – “Yes… and Red Robin, and McDonalds, and the zoo…"

Good Boys

We were talking about what the kids wanted for Christmas one day.

I think they boys started it... something along the lines of Ransom saying he wanted a guitar then Logan saying he probably wasn't going to get it (pessimistic kid). Then Ransom saying he also wanted a Wii U and Logan saying it wasn't going to happen (oddly he's pessimistic about his own wishes because he wants a Wii U too.. ok that one probably has to do with the fact that the boys have been asking for a Wii U but I've been having to talk to them and help them understand that they'd probably not be getting such a big ticket item.)

Funny enough both of those items are currently under the tree. :) I'm predicting lots of jumping and screaming on Christmas morning.

At some point, Ransom started thinking about what I wanted for Christmas. He came to this conclusion:

Ransom: "Mom, I know what you want for Christmas."

Me: "What?"

Ransom: "Good boys."

Hmmm, the boy knows me well.

Yes, I would like perfectly behaved boys for Christmas. I'm not saying they are horrid little monsters but well... let's face it, I think ALL kids could behave better. So what do I want for Christmas? Apparently nothing that can be wrapped with a bow. I just want good boys.

But if you think about it.... the fact that Ransom realizes this all on his own seems to suggest that perhaps I already do have good boys.

Quotable Logan

Logan is eating an orange in this picture in case you are wondering.

I think it's safe to say that my kids are notorious for saying some ridiculous stuff. The other day, Logan said something rather funny... I didn't think it was ALL that funny...but Justin literally laughed out loud (not a common occurrence) and has since proceeded to laugh about it at least 3 times over the course of the last few days. So it must be good.

Logan: "I don't know why it stinks but I do know you farted, Ransom."

Mommy Made Me Eat Cat Food

“Mommy made me eat cat food.”

I just recently found out that Ransom said this to someone.

What?!!! Why in the world would this kid tell someone I made him eat cat food? I obviously have not made him eat cat food or anything resembling cat food. I have not made some sort of crazy kid snack and called it cat food even!

After hearing about this, I decided to grill him. My kids say some weird things and honestly if I don’t ask them why, I could never come to the proper reason myself.

Me: “Ransom, did you say that I made you eat cat food?”

Ransom: “Yes.”

Me: “Why? I’ve never made you eat cat food.”

Ransom: “You made me eat cat food when I was a baby.”

Me: …thinking and finally remembering. “You ate cat food when you were a baby but I didn’t make you. You decided to eat it.”

Ransom: “Oh. And I liked it?”

Me: “No, I don’t think you liked it.”

Ah ha! Mystery solved. I told the boys once that Ransom ate cat food when he was little. As most little kids do, he was crawling around and found some old cat food. Before I knew it the kid had eaten it. Yuck!

Now the odd thing is that it’s not like I told them that story recently. It’s probably been months since I told them about the cat food incident. How is it that my kids can have such an amazing memory and yet get the details so flawed? You’ve got to wonder what other horror stories they’ve told people!
